How to add full cover Insurance:
At STEP3 during the online booking process after choosing your car model, subject to your country of residence you may be offered extra comprehensive insurance with our insurance partner AXA. This is the most comprehensive and cost effective insurance available. However you will also be offered extra insurance at the desk on arrival. To view these options, next to the car photo of your choice is a link entitled IMPORTANT INFORMATION. Click on this and then on INSURANCE and it will display the options of that particular supplier. Try a few different suppliers as they do vary widely. If you purchase our online insurance with AXA, print the policy that will be emailed to you and take it with you. You do not need any other insurance.

Driver's age
25 to 99 years.
Young driver's age: 21 to 24 years. Charge 9.95 EUR per day. Maximum 120 EUR. Includes 23% tax
Customers who fall outside the age limitations will not be able to hire a car unless there is a young or senior driver fee specified in this section. Please note that if applicable, this fee will be included in the rental price and will be payable on arrival at the rental desk in the local currency.
Travel Restrictions
Goldcar does not allow travel outside of Portugal.
Exception: Customers who pick up their vehicles at Faro, Lisbon and Oporto offices may travel to Andalucia at an extra cost of 9€ per day with a minimum charge of 25€ and with a maximum charge of 90€.
Customers who pick up their vehicles at our Oporto office may travel to Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria & Basque Country. An additional cover is necessary for these customers. The cost of this additional cover is 9€ per day, and is applied to the total rental period, with a minimum charge of 25€ and with a maximum charge of 90€.
Goldcar vehicles rented in Madeira are not allowed to travel outside of Madeira.
Vehicles collected in Madeira may travel to Porto Santo Island as long as the customer contracts the additional cover for a daily fee of 9€ per day of the total rental period, with a minimum charge of
25€ and with a maximum charge of 90€. If the additional cover is not contracted by the customer then the basic cover included in every rental will only be valid on the island where the vehicle was collected by the customer.
